Larry S. Wheeler, age 72, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 1:07 am on June 7, 2011 at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Larry was born on March 21, 1939 in Unionville, Missouri and is the son of Frank W. and Ruby J. Shelton Wheeler. He was raised in Unionville and attended its local schools and high school. Larry was married to Betty Turner on June 19, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois and she is surviving. Larry has been a life long truck driver. He has driver locally for Munson Trucking, D C M Trucking, and Nu-Way Trucking and has driven for over forty years. Larry was a member of and loved camping and fishing at Young's Lake near Kirkwood, Illinois. His family, friends, and neighbors were most important to him. Surviving are his wife, Betty Wheeler of Monmouth, one daughter Melissa (Jason) Huston of Monmouth, and three sons Scott (Christine) Wheeler and James (Karen) Wheeler, both of Aledo, Illinois, and Randy (Susan) Wheeler of Rapids City, Illinois. His step mother suvives, Virginia Wheeler of New Windsor, Illinois. Ten Grandchildren are surviving, Chris Reed, Mike, Tim, and Nikki Wheeler, Brian Derry, Ashley Burrill, Danny Wheeler, Jeremy Henderson, Tabby Wheeler, and Ruby Wheeler-Huston. Two great grandchildren, Dylan Wheeler and Mikayla Dunn survive. Larry has four sisters surviving, Shirley Riley of Rockford, IL, Lois (Jan) Van Hock of Milan, IL, Eileen (Jim) Randall of New Windsor, IL, and Virginia (John) Tarr of Monmouth, IL. There are three brothers Frank (Jane) Wheeler, David (Elaine) Wheeler, and Keith (Kelly) Wheeler, all of Seaton, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his parents, one infant son Jeffery, one great grandson, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be on Monday June 13, 2011 at 10:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family plans to receive friends for an hour prior to the service on Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 am. No calling hours are planned on Sunday. Interment will be in Candor Cemetery in Mercer County.
