Laura Elizabeth "Liz" Johnson, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Liz was born May 26, 1934, in Decatur County, Tennessee, the daughter of Willie and Ella Black Warren. She graduated from Decatur County High School in Tennessee in 1952. She married George E. Johnson on March 23, 1954 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1978. Liz worked at the Maytag Manufacturing in Galesburg retiring in 1996 where she was a member of Union Local 2063. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Chris) Snowdon of Port Charlotte, Florida, Lisa ( Phillip) Crockett of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and two sons, Charles (Karol) Johnson of Milton, Florida, Kevin (Becky) Johnson of Biggsville, Illinois, one step son George (Velma) Johnson, of Burlington, Iowa, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, Travis Snowdon, Kristin Hanifan, Heather Busselman, Stephanie Johnson, Nick Johnson, Andrew and Molly Crockett, Brenda Nelson, Erin Haegar, Jessica Johnson and one great grandchild Kristina Snowdon, Two sisters, Mayme Kelly and Molly Little both of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one step granddaughter and seven brothers and sisters. Services:A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m on Friday evening. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for Faith Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
