Laverne A. Rowley

LaVerne A. Rowley, age 96, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 9:45 am on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Roseville Rehab Center in Roseville, Illinois. LaVerne was born May 25, 1918 in Larchland, Illinois and is the daughter of Ernest and Anna Swanson Nelson. She was raised and attended local rural schools in Larchland and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1936. She was previously married to Warren E. Rowley. LaVerne, before her marriage, was employed as a cashier and secretary at the General Telephone office in Monmouth, Illinois for a number of years. She later was a secretary in several Galesburg businesses locally. LaVerne was an active member of the Galesburg First Christian Church where she taught music and was most active in it's musical programs. She is survived by her son, Larry (Darlyce) Rowley of Wataga, Illinois and her daughter, Linda Rowley of Monmouth, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents and one sister, Gayle Woods. Services:Cremation has been accorded and no service is currently being planned. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois is in charge of the local arrangements.
