Lawrence "Bud" Fillman, age90, of Oquawka, Ill., passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center in Aledo, Ill. Bud was born on February 17, 1921 in Monmouth, Ill.; he is the son of Richard and Edith Fillman. He was reared and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. Bud served during World War II in the United States Army. He married Wanda Holford. Bud worked for 39 years on the Chicago Northwestern and the M&St. L Railway as an engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bud also was an avid woodcarver, and was known for his meticulous craftsmanship. He was a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church. Bud is survived by his sons; Larry Fillman (Nancy) of Eureka, Ill., and Robert Fillman (Mary Ellen) of Aledo, Ill. Several grandchildren also survive. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and two sons; James and Richard Fillman. Services:A memorial service with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded.
