Lawrence A. Pierce

Lawrence A. Pierce, age 78, of Monmouth, passed away at 1:40 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2012 at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. He was born on August 4, 1934 in Lincoln, NE., and is the son of Earl and Ethyl Campbell Godmin. Lawrence attended school in Lewistown, Mo. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Lawrence married Mary Settles on July 4, 1964 in Monmouth, she survives. He worked for Super Sweet in Monmouth for 25 years. Lawrence enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time at the river. He is survived by his wife Mary Pierce of Monmouth, three daughters; Sandy, Diane, and Debbie. Two sons; Randy, and Danny, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one special grandson Jacob Wade VanSkike. Also surviving are three brothers; Melvin Godmin, Harold Godmin, and Clarence Pierce. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Roberta Washburn, one brother Charles Pierce, and one son Jerry Pierce. Services:A private graveside committal of ashes with Military Honors will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial fund will be designated at a later date.
