Lea Ellen Borg

Lea Ellen Borg, age 51, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 12:55 P.M. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on July 29, 1966 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Connie (Borg) Russell. Lea Ellen attended school locally and was a graduate of Union High School with the Class of 1984. She later attended A.I.C. in the Quad Cities. Lea Ellen worked at many positions over her career; as a Nanny for several families on the East Coast, as a hotel clerk at Glacier National Park, a switchboard operator at Great River Medical Center, and as a cashier at the Rock Island Casino. She enjoyed reading, collecting books, shopping, and was known for her unique gifts that she presented to her family and friends. Lea Ellen's passion of reading lead her to complete on-line editing for several authors. Lea Ellen collected Angels, giraffes, and loved to travel. She most loved spending time with her niece, aunts and cousins. Lea Ellen is survived by her parents, one brother Michael Russell of Oquawka, IL, her niece Gracie Russell, four Aunts; Donna (Danny) Bielser, Vickie (Ken) Shauman, Peggy (Mike) West, and Nancy Borg. Also surviving are numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, sister Stephanie, her cousin Amy, and aunt Cheryl "Toot". Visitation Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 also at the funeral home. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Biggsville Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Oquawka Fire Department or the Oquawka Ambulance Service.
