Lee F. Saben, age 86, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away at 11:52 am on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. Lee was born on October 30, 1925 in Burlington, Iowa and is the son of Fred W. and Lucretia Noble Saben. He was raised in Henderson County where he attended school in Stronghurst and Abingdon, and then graduated from Biggsville High School with the class of 1943. He married Phyllis Stevenson on July 7, 1944 in Canton, Missouri. He was a member of the Biggsville United Methodist Church. He loved his family dearly and always enjoyed all celebrations with them. Lee was a grain and livestock farmer for over sixty years. He enjoyed "Big Band" music and attended a number of band performances over the years. He played trumpet in the high school band. As a member of the FFA in high school, he enjoyed showing prize-winning hogs. Lee also had an interest in viewing new cars and trucks on various lots. He was a Farm Bureau member and also a member of the former Monmouth Elks Club. Survivors include, his wife Phyllis Saben of Biggsville, Illinois, four daughters, Priscilla Saben of Biggsville, Cynthia (Michael) Schwab of Metamora, Illinois; Janet (Michael) Landon of Galesburg, Illinois and Jacqueline (Todd) Hamilton of Westlake, Texas. Also surviving are grandsons, Matthew(Samantha Walley) Schwab of Normal, IL; Zachary (Tiffany LaHood) Schwab of Metamora, IL; Tyler and Drake Hamilton and granddaughter Kaylee Hamilton, all of Westlake, Texas. One step granddaughter Kris (John) Pettit of Geneva, Illinois and one step grandson Brendon Landon of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Also surviving is one great grandson, Ethan Michael Schwab and five step great grandsons, Sam and Jake Landon, and John C., Josh, and Joseph Pettit. He is also survived by one brother Gary (Barbara) Saben of Northbrook, Illinois, one nephew Don Yarrington of Galesburg, Illinois and one niece Denise (Scott) Svetyl and one great nephew, Aaron Svetyl, all of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Preceeding him in death are his parents and two sisters, Gayle Yarrington and Lois Fussell. Services:A funeral service will be on Friday December 23, 2011 at the Biggsville United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with interment in the Biggsville Cemetery. His family plans to receive friends at the Biggsville United Methodist church on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm A memorial fund is being established for either the Biggsville United Methodist Church or the Henderson County Health Department.
