Leo Walter Winters

Leo Walter Winters, age 90, of Galesburg, son of Walter F and Josephine Knabel Winters passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at 5:00 AM at the Knox County Nursing Home. He married Jewel Poulson, November 03, 1945 in Monmouth, IL. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, one daughter Mary Beth ( Steve) Goodwin of Cameron, Robert (Joyce Starkey) Winters of Hendersonville, Tn , Paul (Debbie) Winters of Stronghurst, IL. Grandchildren Adam (Miranda) Bennett of Tray City, TN, Erika Bennett of Galesburg, IL, Kate (Adam) Walker and Ellen (Bert) Fennel both of Hendersonville, TN, Jason Winters of Gladstone, IL , Chris (Jessie) Winters of Stronghurst, IL, Travis(Shanna) Winters of Raritan, IL, Bobby Winters, Tera Marshall, Miranda Ballard all of Galesburg, IL, Wally Winters of North Carolina, Geordan Winters of Monmouth, IL. Great-Grandchildren Manny & Miriah Valdez, Shayla Bennett, Mary, Nathan & Matthew Winters, Marrissa Brooks, Caitlin Marshall, Triniti Pence, Austin Ballard, Tristan Winters, Hannah, Emma & Kevin Fennel, Zoe & Addison Walker, Landon, Lauren & Gracey Winters He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two infant sons, and adult son Terry Winters. Leo served during WWII in the European Theater. He served as Post Commander of VFW 2301. He was active in boy scouts with his sons. He was an avid Cardinal fan. He worked for May Company in Galesburg for 32 years. Services:A funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. with visitation to follow on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Memorials are requested to be made to Knox County Nursing Home Activities Committee or Gordon Behrents Senior Center in Galesburg, Il.
