LeRoy F. Gillen, age 87, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 2:50 pm on October 16, 2013 at his rural residence in Warren County, Illinois. "Roy" was born on February 25, 1926 in Hale Township, Monmouth, and is the son of Edward T. and Kathryn E.(Gavin) Gillen. LeRoy educated in the Hale Center Grade School and Monmouth High School. LeRoy married Helen M. Hennenfent on January 25, 1951 in Monmouth, IL LeRoy was a grain and livestock farmer in Hale Township, Warren County all of his life. He loved his Church, and was member of Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth. LeRoy was active with the Yorkwood School Board and the Warren County Prime Beef Festival. He was a Director of the Federal Land Bank locally and a member of the Knights of Columbus. LeRoy's Church and his Family were foremost in his life. LeRoy is survived by his wife Helen, three sons; David L. (Geneen) Gillen, Raymond E. (Elena) Gillen, and Richard F. (Janet) Gillen, one daughter; Cindy M. (Duane) Ricketts, There are Sixteen Grandchildren and One Great Grandson. Four sisters survive; Katherine Mills, Lucille Gillen, Francis (Ralph) Elliott, all of Monmouth, and Betty (Mike) Hennenfent of Smithshire and one brother George (Mary) Gillen of Monmouth, Illinois also survives. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and a number of their spouses and other relatives. Services:A Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 5:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. His family will receive friends following the Rosary service at the funeral home following the Rosary. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Mary Cemetery in Monmouth. LeRoy's family has established memorials for Immaculate Conception School in Monmouth, Costa Catholic Academy in Galesburg, or the Warren County Relay for Life.
