Lillian K. Romano

Lillian K. Romano, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth on Sunday,January 21, 2018 at 9:35 pm. Lillian Rose Keane was born on November 8, 1921 in Macomb, Illinois and is the daughter of John D. and Anna O'Leary Keane. She was raised and educated in Raritan where she attended rural schools and graduated from Media High School with the class of 1938. She then attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois. Lillian married Frank E. Romano, Jr. on January 25, 1943 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in his death on December 20, 1996. Lillian is a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Monmouth and was a member of it's Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxillary. She enjoyed playing Bridge and doing crossword puzzles. She loved to read and work in her flower garden. Her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her main interest. Surviving are her daughters, MaryAnne Thorbeck of Seattle, Washington and Peggy (Bill) Ford of Overland Park, Kansas. Five sons survive; John Romano in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; Jim (Cindy) Romano of Monmouth, Illinois, Joseph (Cathy) Romano of Monmouth, Mark Romano of Monmouth, and Ed (Lisa) Romano of Iowa City, Iowa. There are thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. One sister is also surviving, Joan Keane of Monmouth, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in her death by her husband, her grandson, Tony, her son-in-law, Tom, one brother Pat, and one sister Fran. Rosary and Visitation A Rosary will be recited on Sunday afternoon at Turnbull Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with her family having visitation and receiving friends following the Rosary. Funeral Mass Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either Immaculate Conception School or for Parkinson's Disease.
