Linda Lou Simpson, age 63, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at her residence on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 11:55am. Linda was born November 12, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of Charles F. and Maxine T. Gerdom Tracy. She was raised in the Oquawka and Galesburg area and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968. Linda married Billy L. Simpson on July 27, 1968 at the First Nazarene Church in Galesburg, Illinois. She began work at O.T. Johnson Department Store in Galesburg, Illinois during the 1960's, she then worked at Protexall for a time, and then served several nursing homes locally as a certified nurses assistant for several years. Linda enjoyed going to flea markets and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Billy L. Simpson of Oquawka, Illinois, one daughter Cherie Johnson of Raritan, Illinois and two sons Billy L. Simpson II (Becky) of Oquawka, Illinois, and Jared Simpson (Kathy) of Davenport, Iowa. Three granddaughters survive, Shelby (Kevin) Johnson of Raritan, IL, Brittany (Clayton) Simpson of Mediapolis, Iowa, and Lyndsy Simpson of Oquawka, Illinois. Two grandsons Ryan Simpson of Oquawka, Illinois and Brady Clark of Raritan, Illinois. Three sisters, Charlotte Druin of Oquawka, Illinois; Carolyn Bigger of Gladstone, Illinois; and Connie Day of Galesburg, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents and one nephew. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Her family plans to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening December 30, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established by her family.
