Lois E. McCoy, age 87, of Gladstone, Ill., passed away at 6:26 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill. On February 8, 1923, Lois was born in rural Easton, Ill. the daughter of George W. and Mary L. Williams Bridges. Lois was reared in the Havana, Ill., area where she attended local schools. On April 21, 1940, Lois married Chester R. McCoy in Havana. He preceded in death on September 12, 1985. Lois was employed by Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa, for forty years retiring in 1991. Lois was a member of the Lomax Christian Church and the Burlington Eagles Aerie. She enjoyed the Good Neighbor Sam's Club, camping, traveling and vacationing with her husband in Florida where they did fishing in the gulf and went looking for sand dollars and shells. Surviving Lois are 3 daughters: Jeanette (Larry) Pence of Lomax, Ill., Barbara (James) Howell of Brooksville, Florida, Bonnie McCoy of Monmouth, Ill. and son Gary (Marge) McCoy of Monmouth, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters Vivian Towery and Rosemary "Bud" Burgett both of Havana, two brothers, Eldon Bridges and David Bridges both of Havana. Preceding Lois in death are her parents, husband, two daughters Betty Thorndike and Shirley Darrell, one granddaughter Shelly Seats, and seven brothers, Clyde, Howard, Nile, Dale, Loy, Johnny and Danny Bridges. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Lomax Christian Church. Interment will be in the Carman Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, February 12 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth where her family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00.
