Lonzo P. Nickols, age 64, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at his Monmouth residence on Tuesday July 28, 2009 at 3:30 pm. Lonzo was born on July 4, 1945 in LaHarpe, Illinois and is the son of Paul C. and Grace C. Means Nickols. After schooling, Lonzo served in the Air Force for a time and upon his return to Monmouth was employed at LeHigh Leopold Desk Company in Burlington, Iowa. He also was formerly a member of the Monmouth Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the local gun club. Lonzo enjoyed playing video games and goin' to the boat. Surviving are three daughters July Nickols and Melayna Nickols, both Monmouth, and Ivy Kay Nickols of Rockford, Illinois. Also surviving are two sons Lonzo Paul Nickols II also of Rockford, Illinois and Ashley Wayne Nickols of Bloomington, Illinois. Two Grandchildren Three Sisters Linda Holscher of Knoxville, Illinois; Lois Pillar and Charles of Rochelle, Illinois; and Sandy Burkett and Gary of Monmouth. Four Brothers Harry "Jr." Gulick and Melvin Nickols, both of Monmouth, Denan Nickols and April of Oquawka, Illinois, and Chuck Nickols and Linda of Burlington. Lonzo was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother George, and 1 Sister Pauline. Services:A graveside service for the committal of his ashes with military honors will be on Saturday August 1, 2009 at 10:30 am at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. A memorial is being established for Diabetes. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
