Louise S. Lanphere, age 95, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at the United Presbyterian Home, in Washington, Iowa on Tuesday October 21, 2008 at 10:00 pm. Louise was born on October 31, 1912 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Russell C. and Helen Trowbridge Smith. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools through High School. She then attended Monmouth College. Louise married Robert D. Lanphere on February 10, 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois and he passed away on January 28, 1999. Louise began work as a secretary for Monmouth Homestead and Loan Association in Monmouth. She has been a long time faithful member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, where she served as Elder and Trustee. She also served as the financial secretary for the church for a number of years. Louise was active at Presbytery where she served on the board of the Presbytery of Great Rivers. She also volunteered many years with the Red Cross Bloodmobile Louise enjoyed sewing and was in the sewing circle of her church. She always enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. Surviving is her son James R. Lanphere and Dianne of Monmouth, Illinois Her Granddaughters Angela & Jason Taylor of Wayland, Iowa and Heather & Mike McGinity of Kirkwood, Illinois. There are three Great Grandchildren Ella McGinity, and Robbie and Emma Taylor. Her Step Sister also Survives Shirley Fullerton and Burt of Monmouth, Illinois and Step Brother Robert N. Smith of Bushnell, Illinois Louise is preceded in her death by her Parents and her Husband. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday October 25, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family will receive friends on Friday at the Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery of Monmouth. Memorial funds have been established for either Faith United Presbyterian Church of Monmouth or the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.
