Mabel A. Magnuson

Mabel A. Magnuson, age 75, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, on Wednesday February 2, 2012 at 5:30 pm as the result of an accident. Mabel was born November 14, 1936 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Virgil E. and Ruth E. Baker Magnuson. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local schools and Graduated Monmouth High School with the class of 1954. She then attended Orange Coast Community College studying to be a dietician. One of her first employments in Monmouth was as a cook at Filling Station 3, then worked several years at Western Stoneware also of Monmouth. She then moved to California where she worked as cook at the Buena Vista Nursing Home for fifteen years and also was the kitchen manager at Aramark Corp in Anaheim, California. Mabel returned to Monmouth in 1992 and worked again at Western Stoneware until her retirement in 1998. Mabel was an avid Crochetter and fanatic couponer. She loved to travel. Suviving her are two daughters Dawn ( Ted ) Plotts of Monmouth, Illinois and Terrie ( Russell ) Chapman of New London, IA. There are granddaughters Noelle Plotts of Galesburg, IL. and Sarah, Alicia, Christyna, and Skyler Plotts all of Monmouth, Illinois, and Ashly (Travis) Hayburn of Roseville, IL and one grandson, Nicholas Ettinger of Mt.Pleasant, Iowa. There are five Great Grandchildren also surviving. Her brother Loren (Vickey) Hare of Roseville, Illinois survives as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Services:A memorial service is planned for Wednesday February 8, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois at 10:30 am Cremation has been accorded and no viewing or visitation is currently planned.
