Madeline B. Young, age 86, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:17 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Marigold Nursing Home in Galesburg, Illinois. Madeline was born on September 3, 1921 in Monmouth the daughter of John A. and Olive Larimer Britt. Madeline attended Hazel Dell School until the age of 8 and she attended Central Junior High School and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1938. Madeline married Eugene D. Bowers on February 6, 1943 in Washington, D. C. She later married Walter M. Young on Mary 17, 1963 in Galesburg, Illinois Madeline was a secretary in a number of different capacities, first as legal secretary for Robert Howard, Attorney at Law in Monmouth, and then for the Civil Service. She then was involved with crippled children, through the University of Illinois. Returning to Monmouth, Madeline for a time was the City Collector for the City of Monmouth and lastly worked for the Army Signal Corp serving at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She was of the Methodist faith. Surviving Madeline is her son Eugene D. (Joyce) Bowers, Jr. of Manchester, New Hampshire, and two grandchildren Eugene D. Bowers, III of Manchester, N.H. and Denise Persechino of Port St.Lucie, Florida Two great grandsons Nicholas Persechino and Tyler David Bowers of Manchester, NH and One Great Granddaughter Chelsey Persechino of Port St.Lucie, Florida She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday at Turnbull's prior to the service from 9:30am to the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established for the Alzheimers.
