Margaret P. Sebring Dixon, age 95, of Stronghurst, Ill., formerly of Burlington, Iowa and Gladstone, Ill., passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst. Mrs. Dixon was born October 5, 1914, in Gladstone to Aubry Lee and Bertha Carolina Knutstrom Sebring. She lived most of her life in Gladstone. She was educated in Gladstone, but graduated from Burlington High School in 1932. She married Ralph Corwin Dixon on September 1, 1934 in Burlington. He died June 24, 1981. She worked for the Buettner Furniture Store for years as a seamstress and 5-1/2 years at Smoler's in Monmouth before retiring. She was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church serving as their organist for many years. She was also a 25 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Monmouth Chapter #227. Surviving are her two daughters Wanda L. and the late Raus Cooper of Burlington, Judith A. (Maynar) Christgau of Mesa, Arizona, two sons, Norman E. (Marilyn) Dixon of Taylorville, Ill. and Randy W. (Connie) Dixon of New Boston, Ill., ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Gladstone United Methodist Church in Gladstone. Interment will be in the Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Ill., Her family will be present to receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the Church. A memorial fund is being established for either the Gladstone United Methodist or Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst. Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville is in charge of the arrangements.
