Margaret R. Maritz, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 3:55 pm on January 26, 2011 at Galesburg Terrace in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on January 18, 1928 in Rio, Illinois and is the daughter of Harold and Bessie Chessley Willett. She was raised in Alpha, Illinois where she attended grade school and graduated from Alpha High School. She married E. Lyle Maritz on December 7, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska. Margaret was a homemaker and mother. She also did bookkeeping for her husband Lyle in "Ace Window Cleaning and Janitorial Service". She loved to read and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. She also enjoy antiques and collecting glassware known as "Milk Glass". She liked playing cards and enjoyed greatly Boy Scouting with both her late sons, Andy and Pat. She is survived by her daughter Diane (James) Pettit of Monmouth, Illinois. Three grandchildren, Brian (Melissa) Pettit, Missy (Denny) Noel, and Angie (John Moore) Pettit, all of Monmouth, Illinois. There are seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. One sister is surviving Lorraine Carlson in the Quad Cities, and three brothers Richard (Verna) Willett in Bettendorf, LeRoy (Donna) Willett in Woodhull, and Dale (Joyce) Willett in Sun City, Arizona. There are also a number of nieces and nephews surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, and two sons Andy and Pat. Services:A funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 1st at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, at 7:00 pm. Her family plans to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, prior to the funeral service. Cremation will then be accorded. A memorial fund is being established for either Boy Scouts of America or the J.W.Clendenin Post 2301 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
