Margaretta L. Decker

Margaretta L. Decker, age 96, of Monmouth, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Friday, April 09, 2010, at the Courtyard Estates in Monmouth. She was born on June 2, 1913 in the Ohio Grove Township in Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Nola Hainline Robb. She was reared and educated in Seaton, Keithsburg, and Sunbeam, Ill., and graduated from Aledo High School. Margaretta married Frank B. Decker in Sunbeam, Ill. in 1933; he preceded her in death on May 11, 1966. After high school Margaretta first worked at the Button Factory in Keithsburg, Ill. She then went to work at Kellogg Printing, the Lister Agency, and lastly she worked at the Monmouth Metal Culvert Company. In her younger years, Margaretta enjoyed playing on a woman softball league in Keithsburg. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and most of all spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving Margaretta are two daughters; Gertrude Hart (Don), Joanne L. Bennett (Lynn), both of Monmouth, two sons; John Decker (Rudeana) and Donald Decker (Cassie) both of Monmouth. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; Chris Wilson, Cameron Linze, Tina (Tom) Guild, Rob (Christine)Decker, John Decker, Rachel Morefield Decker, Tyson (Kristin) Hart, Eric (Judy) Hart, Kelsey, Troy (Erinn) Bennett, and Kimberly Nightingale. 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and one daughter Marjorie Linze and husband Richard. Services:A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park. Her family will be present to receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. till the time of service at 2 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.
