Marguerite V. "Happy" Cook

Marguerite V. "Happy" Cook, age 93, passed away at 3:50 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois. Happy was born on November 3, 1915 in Biggsville, Illinois. She is the daughter of John and Erma Burrell Gibb. She was reared and educated in the Biggsville area, and graduated from the Biggsville High School. Happy married Clifford Cook on November 9, 1934 in Monmouth. He preceded her on February 21, 1986. Happy worked for many years as a cook for the Biggsville schools. She was an active member of the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Happy was a charter member of Hendco Hills Golf Club, she was active in the Biggsville American Legion Auxiliary, and the American Red Cross and its Bloodmobile effort. Happy enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events. She was an avid Cubs fan. Surviving Happy is one daughter, Donna Ferguson of Biggsville, one son, Richard Cook and Kay of Ward, AR, five grandsons, Ronny Ferguson and Laurie of Gladstone, IL, Ricky Ferguson and Becky of Biggsville, Randy Ferguson of Gladstone, Tod Ferguson and Pam of Lomax, IL, and Terry Cook and Patricia of Monmouth. Three granddaughters, Diana Cook of Monmouth, Mary Bell and Carol Mares and T.J. both of Ward, AR. Also surviving are twenty four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, two brothers, and one son-in-law. Services:A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Biggsville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Her family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 a.m. till the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Biggsville United Methodist Church or to Biggsville Youth Sports.
