Marian B. "Nan" Carlson, age 85, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 5:50 pm on Sunday August 17, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Nan was born on October 1, 1928 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of W. C. and Patsy Roy Evans. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended public schools and Monmouth High School where she graduated with the class of 1947. She later attended and received her certification as a Certified Nurses Aid. Marian was married to Robert F. Carlson on June 29, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1992. Nan first worked at Formfit of Monmouth for twelve and a half years and also was a member and served as president of the Ten Year Club. She served a number of years as a Certified Nurses Assistant at Community Memorial Hospital. She also worked private duty locally for five years in Home Health Care. Nan lastly worked at Barnes Brothers Grocery as a cake decorator for a number of years. In earlier years she enjoyed baking and decorating Wedding and Special Occasion Cakes. She also liked crocheting afghans, sewing and crafts. She was an avid reader, bird watcher, and liked embroidery and handwork. Her hobbies were her cats, family, grandchildren, playing cards, T.V. games shows, and doing word puzzles. She is survived by three daughters, Jenny Harris ( Bill Griffin ) of St. Charles, Missouri; Kay (Scott) Raziano of Lakewood, California; and Kathy (Steve) Bichsel of Monmouth, Illinois. There are six grandchildren, Chrystal (Michael) McCoy of St.Charles, MO; Brandon (Karen) Harris of St. Charles, MO; Matt J. Lovdahl and Blake Bichsel both of Monmouth, IL and Alexis and Courtney Raziano of Lakewood, California. There are two Great Grandchildren, Michaela and Caleb McCoy of St.Charles, Missouri. There are two special nieces and nephews, Ann and Stan McCrery of Aledo, Illinois. Her brother, Richard "Shortie" (Marilyn) Evans of Monmouth, Illinois and Marjorie Ressler of Arlington, Texas also survive. Special care givers, Pam and Allen Wilson and the Turnquist family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant daughter, her stepfather, and a number of brothers and sisters. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans visitation with the family receiving their friends from 5:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established for either First United Methodist Church in Monmouth, or Parkinson's Disease.
