Marian R. Reese

Marian R. Reese, age 87, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away with her family by her side, at 11:15 pm on March 1, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Marian was born on December 12. 1924 in Centralia, Missouri and is the daughter of Warren and Ruth Frymire Matteson. She was raised in Woodhull, Illinois and graduated from Woodhull High School with the class of 1942. She first attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg and then received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Galesburg School of Pratical Nursing. Marian married David W. Reese on October 6, 1945 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1978. Marian was a L P N at Community Memorial Hospital for twenty-two years. She was a member of the Warren County YMCA and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1980. She was a member of the Monmouth Christian Women's Club, the Red Hat Society, and the American Legion Auxillary. Her main interest was always her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed Bus Tours and Traveling, and her card club. Surviving are four daughters Donna J. (Doug) Curry of Monmouth, Joyce A. (John) Erickson of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Gayle L. (Gerald) Whitmore of Galesburg, Illinois and Susan E. (Russell) Jensen of Roseville, Illinois. One son David W.(Gina) Reese of Deerfield, Wisconsin survives. There are eight grandsons, four granddaughters, and five great grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews are also surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister. Services:A funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, with interment in Center Grove Cemetery of Kirkwood, Illinois. Visitation with the family present will be on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for either the Warren County YMCA or the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
