Marilyn J. Fowler

Marilyn Jeanne Fowler, age 88, of Biggsville, IL; passed away at 2:58 am on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, IL. Marilyn was born on December 8, 1929 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Paul D. and M. Eloise Jamison Gibb. She attended schools in Biggsville and Monmouth. She later attained her G. E. D. Marilyn married William E. Fowler on November 25, 1946 in Nashua, Iowa at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. He preceded her in death in 2008. She and Bill moved between Illinois and Missouri many times with his job. Marilyn was a stay-at-home Mom for many years. She was active in the Presbyterian Church and schools in Yates City, Illinois and LaPlata, Missouri. She worked at JC Penny's in Peoria and also owned the Soft Spot in Yates City, selling soft-serve ice cream and lunch specials. Marilyn loved her pets, and all animals. Her beloved yellow rose bush was moved with every move she made over thirty years. Marilyn is survived by her son, William D. Fowler (Deann) of Muscatine, Iowa and her daughter, Denise Easley (Jerry) of Las Vegas, Nevada. There are three grandchildren Jennifer and Mark Fitch, Jason and Bonnie Easley, and Katy and Ron Kelly; and four great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Jackson, Lily, and Paul. Her niece, Betty Minneman, her sister in law, Ruth Gibb, and three nephews are also surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, her former husband, and her brother, Dennis Gibb. A funeral service is planned at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery in Biggsville, Illinois. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth for the hour prior to the service 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A memorial fund is established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
