Marilyn K Simpson

Marilyn Kay Gaskill Simpson, age 57, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 7:30 a.m. July 14, 2011, at home, surrounded by her family on her birthday. She was born on July 14, 1954, in Monmouth, the daughter of Omar and Eunice Haase Gaskill. Marilyn was raised in Monmouth and attended local schools, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1972. She was married to Dennis Lee Simpson on May 12, 1973, at First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. Marilyn worked as the office manager for Dr. Marc Katchen in Galesburg and Dr. Deb Katchen in Monmouth. She most enjoyed her family and spending time at Lake Warren. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Simpson, of Monmouth; two sons, Chad Simpson (Jane Carlson) of Monmouth and Brent Simpson (Becky Pasco) of Belvidere; her mother Eunice Gaskill of Monmouth; her twin sister Carolyn Thompson and sister Gloria (Ron) Koch, both of Monmouth; her brother Larry Gaskill of Monmouth; and her brother Omar (Alice) Gaskill, Jr. of Burlington, Iowa. She also is survived by her sister-in-law Sharon Simpson; brother-in-law Junior Simpson; and mother-in-law Carolyn Simpson, all of Monmouth. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her father Omar Gaskill; father-in-law Duane Simpson; sister-in-law Connie Simpson Louck; and brother-in-law Wally Simpson. Services:Cremation is to be accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday July 23, 2011, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Lake Warren or Faith United Presbyterian Church.
