Marilyn Welch

Marilyn Lois Welch, age 87, of Little York, Illinois, passed away at her residence on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 5:30 am. She was born on May 26, 1925 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith Walters Jones. She was raised in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1943. She married Frederick J. Welch on September 18, 1946 at the Coldbrook Christian Church. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2012. Marilyn and Fred were the owner/operators of J&W Hardware in Little York, Illinois and later worked at Paralee's Apparel in Monmouth for a number of years.. She was also a member of the Community Memorial Hospital and later the OSF Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary's and also the American Legion Auxiliary. Marilyn enjoyed knitting, needle point, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and played the piano beautifully. She will be missed dearly as she was the heart and soul of the family. Marilyn had a delightful sense of humor and always saw the best in people. She is survived by one son, Fred H. (Susan) Welch of Dickinson, Texas; one daughter, Cindy Bennett of Little York, Illinois; seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Deborah L. Horner; and a son-in-law, Johnnie Bennett. Services:A funeral service is planned for Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation is planned at 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
