Marion Boyd

Marion Boyd, age 83, of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 1:18 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center, in Peoria, Illinois. Marion was born September 17, 1925 in Smithshire, Illinois. He is the son of Clarence LeRoy and Lola Staley Boyd. Marion was reared and educated in the Biggsville area and Attended Biggsville Schools. After High School, Marion enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II, he was awarded a Bronze Star. Marion married Betty Magee on September 21, 1946, in Biggsville. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2005. Marion began working at Burkett Implement in Biggsville as a mechanic. He then drove a truck for Seth Oak Trucking until 1978. Lastly he drove for the Twomey Company until his retirement in 1990. Marion loved baseball, gardening, and enjoyed bowling at Country Fun. He was a member of the Biggsville American Legion. Marion is survived by three daughters; Ilona Stout of Mavrin, Iowa, Connie Murphy and Pistol of Monmouth, Illinois, Cynthia Boyd of Bondville, Illinois. Two sons; Ronald Boyd and Kathy of Galesburg, Illinois and Michael Boyd of Biggsville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one brother, Robert Boyd. Marion was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Norma Lee Boyd. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville. Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to the service on Tuesday in Biggsville, where his family will be present to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established for the Biggsville Ambulance Service.
