Marion C. "Parker" Parker, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 7:43 a.m. at the Monmouth Nursing Home on December 12, 2012. Marion was born on February 28, 1929 in Monmouth, Illinois, and is the son of Almiron T. and Nora E. Martin Parker. Parker was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1947. Marion was a veteran serving in the Army during the Korean War. Marion also completed his schooling at Carl Sandburg College as was a licensed Real Estate Broker. He was previously married to Kathryn Marie Talley in August of 1955. Marion was employed for thirty-five years as a Unit Assembly Repairman for Admiral Corporation in Galesburg, Illinois. Parker also was a member of the Moose Lodge in Galesburg, IL and the Galesburg Church of Christ. He also enjoyed constructing and flying radio controlled aircraft and had his own private pilot's license. He was a member of the Monmouth Flying Club. He also loved ball room dancing and the Glen Miller era. Surviving are his two daughters Peggy Jo (Phil) Brown of Riverton, IL; and Mary Kay (Ron) Hamell of Indianola, IA. His grandson, Bryon (Shannon) Brown of Chicago, Illinois and Granddaughter Morgan Kathryn Hamell of Indianola, IA. There is one great grandson, Pierson Brown of Chicago, Illinois and Five step grandchildren Jason (Rocio) Brown and Patrick Brown, both of San Diego, CAWendy (Chad) Cline and Dustin Hamell, both of Carlisle, Iowa; and Jessica Hamell of DesMoines, IA. There are two step great grandchildren Chase and Ayla Cline. Services:A funeral service will be at 1:30 pm on Saturday December 15, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois Interment with military honors will be in Mosher Cemetery. His family plans visitation at Turnbull funeral Home on Friday evening receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Memorial funds are established for either Galesburg Church of Christ or the Monmouth Flying Club.
