Marjorie Schaumleffel, age 95, of Peru, Illinois and formerly of Monmouth; passed away at 5:00 pm on April 15, 2014 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru, Illinois. Marjorie was born on July 18, 1918 in Kirkwood, Illinois and is the daughter of Anthony and Mary Johnson. She was raised and educated in Kirkwood, Illinois and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1936. Marjorie married Lawrence S. Schaumleffel on August 20, 1940 in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1996. Marjorie was first employed as a clerk at Levine's Music Store on the square in Monmouth for a number of years. She later worked for Nancy Clayton in the Warren Country Treasurer's office for a number of years until her retirement. She was an active, lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth. She enjoyed many activities in the community including volunteering at Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth, being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and assisting with numerous other local functions throughout the years. Marjorie loved playing the game of bridge and belonged to numerous clubs over the years. She is survived by three sons, Larry (late Marge) Schaumleffel of Naples, FL, Sam (Bridgit) Schaumleffel of Mark, IL, and Tony (Chris) Schaumleffel of Countryside, IL. There are six grandchildren, Laura Ance, Steven (Leigh Ann) Schaumleffel, Ivy Barr, Dawn Julien, Sam (Paula) Schaumleffel Jr., and Troy (Donna) Schaumleffel. Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law Marge, and two grandsons, Craig and David Schaumleffel. Services:A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Her family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established for the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
