Mark F. Jeffries

Mark F. Jeffries, age 54, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 12:32 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. Mark was born on March 29, 1955 in Aurora, Ill., the son of Melvin and Kathryn Hickman Jeffries. Mark was raised in the Aurora and Galesburg areas. He was educated in the Monmouth Public Schools. Mark was a dispatcher for the Monmouth Police Department for a number of years. He drove a taxi cab for a time. He was an avid College Football fan. Mark enjoyed car races of all kinds and his favorite race car driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Mark is survived by one sister Karen J. Oaks of Lockney, Texas, one nephew and five nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews and special friend Susan M. Black of Monmouth. Mark is preceded in death by his parents. Services:A graveside service and interment of his ashes will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. No family visitation or calling hours are planned. A memorial fund is being established for the Monmouth Fire Department. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
