Martha A. Cox, age 88, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, IL. on August 20, 2010 at 9:30 am. Martha was born October 12, 1921 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of William Oscar and Elizabeth Barnes Thompson. She was raised in Monmouth and attended the area schools and graduated from Monmouth High School. She was married to William Richard Cox on October 14, 1942 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1969. Martha was employed by Western Stoneware in Monmouth for thirty years, then worked at the Grocery Store of Harry Owens during the 1940s. She is survived by her daughter Vicki L. Hayes (Robert) of Tinley Park, IL; and her son Ricky L. Cox of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving is her grandson Nicholas W. Hayes in Crystal Lake, IL; her sister in law Evelyn Thompson and Niece Glenda Whitman, and two great nephews all of Monmouth, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Cox, and four half sisters and two half brothers. Services:A grave side service is planned on Tuesday August 24, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am preceding the service at 11:00. A memorial fund is being established by her family.
