Martha E. Royer

Martha E. Royer, age 90, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:02 A.M., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. Martha was born on August 6,1919, in Monmouth, the daughter of Harold and Lillian Hardy Carrier. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School. Martha married Harry D. Royer on April 25, 1941 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1984. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 277, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Martha was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a home maker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking walks and spending time in her garden. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time in the mountains. Surviving Martha is one son, Larry A. Royer (Lois) of Swannanoa, NC., one daughter, Michelle A Bricker (John) of Chandler, AZ., three granddaughters; Melissa Royer of Swannanoa, NC., Krista Bricker and Kelli Bricker both of Chandler, AZ., and one grandson, David Bricker of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving is one sister, Helen Owens of Monmouth, two nieces and one nephew. Services:Cremation was accorded at the time of her death. A memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday June 12, 2010 at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family will receive friends at the church following the service. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial fund is being established for Faith United Presbyterian Church.
