Martha M. "Marty" Tinkham, age 67, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:07 p.m., July 7, 2010 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She was born on November 1, 1942 in Burlington, Ia, the daughter of Charles and Virginia M. Altmix Berg. Martha was reared and educated in the Media area and graduated from Media High School in 1960. She then attended beauty school in Burlington, Ia. Martha married Willard R. Tinkham on December 5, 1964 in Monmouth, Il, he survives. For most of her career, Martha has been a beautician. She owned and operated her own shop, "Marty's Beauty Shop" in her home in Monmouth for over 30 years. Martha was also a member of both the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was Surviving Martha is her husband Willard R. Tinkham of Monmouth, two sons; Richard Tinkham (Bobbie) of Rocky Mount, NC; Randy Tinkham (Jerry) of Monmouth, and one daughter, Christine Garcia (Lupe) of Chandler, Az. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Tanya Tinkham of Galesburg, Il., Lucy, Jamie, and Lilly Garcia, Nicole and Riley Skinner, one great grandson, Carter A. Skinner, one sister Norma Cook of Des Moines, Ia., and one brother, Charles E. Berg (Nancy) of Tonka Bay, MN. a number of other relatives survive. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Her family will be present to receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Turnbulls on Monday.
