Martha J. Toland

Martha J. Toland, age 71, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. She was born on February 13, 1939 in Monmouth, the daughter of Theodore M. and Anna Mae Scott Pullen. Martha was reared and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1957. She was married to David Lantz, and later married Don Toland on January 2, 1983 in Monmouth, he survives. Martha worked for twenty eight years at Maytag in Galesburg. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Martha collected a variety of things, she loved to cook, go to the boat, and most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Martha is survived by her husband, Don Toland of Monmouth, Children; Cindy Lewis (Marvin) of Monmouth, Laura Armstrong (Jake) of Monmouth, David Lantz Jr. (Sherry) of Columbia, Mo., Chris Lantz of Monmouth, Rob Lantz (Aaran) of Monmouth, Deborah Bjelland (Tim) of Mauston, Wi., Jim Toland of Schaumburg, Ill., and Mark Toland (Regina) of Winchester, Ill. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and four sisters; Carol Brissey and Barbara Gawthrop both of Galesburg, Ill., Eve Roberson and LindaPullen of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Her family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Turnbulls in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established.
