Martha J. Zielke

Martha J. Zielke, age 86, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away on July 11, 2013 at 3:35 am at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Martha was born on August 3, 1926 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Herman A. and Amy A. Erickson Nelson. She was raised in Biggsville and Monmouth, where she attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1944. Martha married James K Zielke on March 6, 1948 in Monmouth, Illinois and he is surviving. Martha is a homemaker in her own home and has been a mother to her family She is a member and elder of Coldbrook Christian Church and taught Sunday School there for over twenty years. She also was a very active member of the CMH Auxillary at the Monmouth hospital. She also served as an election judge for the county of Warren for over twenty years. She is survived by her husband James Zielke of Monmouth and two daughters Rose (Lowell) Neal of Monmouth and Kathy (Ron) Whaley of Boca Raton, FL. There are four grandchildren, granddaughter Amy (Justin) Miller of Woodhull, IL.and grandsons Kevin Neal of Columbia, MO Ben Whaley (fianc? Jessica) of Boseman, MT, and Chris Whaley of Boca Raton, FL. Three great grandchildren Gage, Tatum, and Aaden Miller are surviving. She is also survived by her sister, Anna May (Harry) Engholm of Galesburg, IL She is preceded in death by her parents, Granddaughter Sara, and one sister Eva. Services:A funeral service will be on Monday July 15, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Coldbrook Christian Church. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans to receive friends at visitation on Sunday July 14 at Turnbull Funeral home in Monmouth, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial fund is being established for the Coldbrook Christian Church.
