Martina Perez

Martina Perez, age 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 8:45 am on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. Martina was born on November 12, 1935 in Refugio, Texas and is the daughter of Reynaldo and Rosa Moncibias DeLaCruz. Her family moved about often in Texas in her early years. Martina was married to Antonio Hernandez Perez on March 12, 1951 in Littlefield, Texas, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2010. Martina was a homemaker in her own home. Upon coming to this area she first worked at the Monmouth Pottery. She then work at Formfit in Monmouth for a time and lastly at Gross Clothing Manufacturing in Galesburg as a seamstress until her retirement. Martina enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved to work in her garden, do handwork and sewing and made clothes for her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Maria C. "Carmen" Pierce (Wayne) of Monmouth, Illinois; Lydia Dudley (Dean) of Marion, Iowa; and Tamie Perez (Charlie) of Galesburg, Illinois. There are four sons; Tony D. Perez (Barb) Rick Perez of Galesburg, Illinois; Steve Perez (Gloria) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Alex Perez (Angie) of Racine, Wisconsin. There are 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren surviving. There are three brothers, Ray DeLaCruz (Margie) of Galesburg, Illinois; Carlos DeLaCruz in California; and Jesse DeLaCruz of London Mills, Illinois.She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, and two daughters, Terry and Rosie. A funeral service for Martina is planned on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation for her family at 9:30 am and will recieve friends and public at 10:00 am. Cremation is being accorded after the service.
