Marvin I. Kaywood, age 70, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at Galesburg Cottage Hospital on February 26, 2010 at 11:33 pm. Marvin was born on March 28, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois; and is the son of Orville and Josephine Hamilton Kaywood. Marvin was raised in Monmouth, Illinois where he attended school and graduated from Monmouth High School. He was married to Joyce E. Kempster on October 9, 1959 in Monmouth, and they've celebrated fifty years of marriage. Marvin was first employed at Western Stoneware in Monmouth for about a year, then began his career with Midwest Manufacturing of Galesburg, where he worked for thirty-five years until retirement in 1992. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He is a member of the Oquawka Eagles Club and the Machinist's Union. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, dancing, and most of all his friends and family. Surviving are his wife Joyce E. Kaywood of Oquawka, Illinois and two daughters Sandy Sotos (Andy) of Orion, Illinois and Cheri Scully (Mark) of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. His son Marvin I Kaywood Jr. (Julie) reside in Oquawka, Illinois. There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three sisters survive Betty Stewart (Cliff) of Hales Corner, Wisconsin, Louise Dutton (Jack) of Monmouth, Illinois, and Geraldine Higham of Moline, Illinois. His brother Eugene Hunter (Joyce) of Smithshire, Illinois survives along with a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Marvin is preceded in death by his Parents, One brother, Robert and his step father Raymond Hunter. Following cremation a memorial service will be at 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening March 2nd at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois where his family plans to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:30 prior to the service at 6:30 pm. A gathering of friends and family at the Oquawka Eagles Club will follow the service at the funeral home.
