Mary Jane Gustafson, age 93, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill. Jane was born on December 5, 1915, in Biggsville Township, Henderson County, the daughter of William S. and Mary M. Young Adair. She was educated in the rural schools in the Rozetta area and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1933. She first married Phillip Duncan on May 6, 1933, in Kahoka, Missouri. In 1951, she married Carl R. Gustafson. Jane was a homemaker in her own home. She was first employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa. She then worked as a seamstress at the Formfit Company in Monmouth and then the snack bar at the Student Center at Monmouth College. Jane spent most of her life caring for her mother. family, and three children. Family was her life. Surviving are three daughters Betty (Jack) McBride, of Monmouth, Ill.; Barbara (Gary) Saben of Northbrook, Ill., and Lynn (Greg) Stokes of Bald Bluff, Ill.; two stepdaughters Lorene (Wendell) Nelson of Monmouth, Mary Frances (Jim) Corzatt of Media, Ill. and one stepson Fred (Sheryl) Gustafson of Monmouth. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jack L. McBride, Julie McBride, Amy Basic, Denise Svetly, Bailey Stokes and Ian Stokes, five great grandchildren, one brother William C. "Bud" Adair and one sister Helen A. Hayes both of Monmouth. Preceding Jane in her death are her parents, husbands, and one grandson Josh. Services:A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Center Grove Cemetery, Krikwood, Ill. Her family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for the Warren County Library in Monmouth.
