Mary Eileen Nolan, age 81, of Oquawka, passed away at 10:47 p.m., February 10, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in Burlington, Ia. Eileen was born on April 26, 1930 in Burlington, Ia., and is the daughter of Michael Edward and Alma Rea Cooper Nolan. She was reared and educated in Oquawka and graduated from Oquawka High School in 1948. Eileen married Charles R. Ruberg in 1950, and they were divorced. She first worked at Illinois Bankers life Association in Monmouth, she then worked for Keith Sanderson, Henderson County States Attorney. She retired November 30, 1998 after working 41 plus years in the Henderson County Treasures office, the last 20 years as the elected county treasure. Eileen was a member of the Henderson County Historical Society, Henderson County Republican Woman's Club, the Oquawka Eagles Auxiliary, and the Oquawka Museum. Eileen enjoyed gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels in the winter. She was a collector of vintage photos and history of Oquawka and in 1986 together with Barbara Lumbeck and Robert Reeder wrote a history of Oquawka for the Oquawka Sesquicentennial celebration. She was also a collector of Christmas Ornaments. Eileen is survived by cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home where her family will be present to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established for the Oquawka Methodist Church, Phelps House, or the Oquawka Museum.
