Mary Radmacher, age 92, of Chicago, Illinois; passed away in Chicago, on June 9, 2008 at St. Joseph Medical Center at 4:58 pm. Mary was born on November 24, 1915 in Monmouth, Illinois and was the daughter of Harry Maynard and Esther Camille Greenleaf Radmacher. She attended schools here and then received a degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois. In 1946 Mary accepted a position in the reference department of the Gary, Indiana where she was the head reference library for ten years. She then began a thirty year career as head librarian at the Skokie Public Library. She completed here time as director of the library with her retirement in 1986. Mary enjoyed the "Theatre" and attending stage plays. She loved art and especially Library Art. Mary for a time also taught several courses at Loyola University specializing in Library design and layout. While at the Skokie Library, Mary oversaw the construction of a new facility and then it's subsequent building addition and renovation. Mary was active in and a member of numerous Library Associations. Surviving Mary is her brother Harry M. Radmacher and Clarice of Monmouth, Illinois. Preceding Mary in death are her parents, and one sister Camille Radmacher. Services:A graveside funeral service for Mary Radmacher is planned on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans to be at Turnbull Funeral Home prior to the service. A memorial fund is being established for the Skokie Public Library in Skokie, Illinois.
