Mary Ann Vandeveer, age 89, passed away at 1:05 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Monmouth Nursing Home. She was born on November 2, 1919 in Rozetta, Illinois, the daughter of Claud and Ruby Duncan Clark. Mary Ann was reared and educated in the Monmouth area, and attended Monmouth public schools. She married Dale Owen Vandeveer on September 29, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1961. Mary Ann was a homemaker, and her main interest was taking care of her family. She also volunteered at Strom Center. She was an avid reader. Surviving Mary Ann is one son, James (Marilyn) Vandeveer of Monmouth, one grandson, Steven T. Vandeveer of Monmouth, one granddaughter, Karen S. Vandeveer of Monmouth, one very special niece, Betty Jean Morey of Kirkwood, and nieces, Donna Skiver and Rosemary Huff, both of Monmouth. Three nephews; Donald Huff of mesa, Az., Mike Clark of Monmouth, and Danny Clark. Two great nieces, Carol (Daniel) Kane of Smithshire, and Vicki (Danny) Spence of Monmouth. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Beulah Huff, two brothers, Charles Clark, one infant brother, and nephew, Jack Rountree. Services:A graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Monmouth Cemetery. Mary Ann's family will be present at Turnbulls at 10:00a.m., one hour prior to the service to receive friends. A memorial fund has been established for either Monmouth Nursing Home or the Warren County Public Library.
