Mary Ruth Williams, age 84, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 10:20 am on March 16, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born September 16, 1926 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Carl J. and Inez G. Feagans Chapman. She attended Monmouth public schools and graduated from Monmouth High School. She then attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb and later the Galesburg Practical Nursing School and Carl Sandburg College. She was married to Don E. Williams on December 13, 1945 in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1993. Mary Ruth was employed twenty years as a nurse at Galesburg Research Hospital. She then was employed as a nurse for thirteen more years at Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth. Mary Ruth was a former member of First Baptist Church and now currently is a member of Heritage United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. She also was an active member and past president of the J.W. Clendenin Post 2301 VFW Auxillary and assisted with the "Monmouth Share" program at Jamieson Center. She most enjoyed her family and home, traveling, crocheting, and doing for and mentoring others in her life. She is survived by four daughters Cheryl A. Scott of Monmouth, IL Donna K. Godsil (Patrick) of Galesburg, IL Patricia G. Williams (Bob Bain) of Altona, IL Mary M. Jones (Tim) of Monmouth, IL Two sons Donald J. Williams (Connie) of Ammon, ID and Michael E. Williams (Lora) of Galesburg, IL There are 21 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren One brother Wendell Chapman (Dixie) of Pembroke, KY She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Gayle Roche and one granddaughter Kristen M.Neal. Services:A funeral service for Mary Ruth will be on Monday March 21. 2011 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans to be at Turnbull Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm to receive friends. A memorial fund is being established for either Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg, or the Auxillary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2301.
