Max Wayne Meyer, age 83,of Oquawka,Illinois passed away at OSF Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois on August 23,2013. Max was born east of Oquawka on the family farm on February 16,1930 the son of Paul Henry and Virgie Smith Meyer. Max was educated at the Little Brick school and Biggsville schools in Henderson County. Max married Maude Elizabeth Collins on June 23, 1951 in Clayton, Illinois, being married 62 years. He and Maude lived and raised their children on the family farm. Max also was employed twenty-five years at Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. He was a member of the National Guard for three years. Max is a member of Rozetta Baptist Church and had given his heart to Jesus many years ago. Max always loved having a dog, especially his companion, "Maggie" whom he walked everyday. The couple has resided South of Oquawka for several years. He is survived by his wife Maude E. Meyer of Oquawka,Illinois, one son Gary (Rita) Meyer of Nixa, MO., three daughters, Judy Johnson of Burlington,Iowa, Karen (Dave) Robbins of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Diane (Roger) Lee of Burlington,Iowa. There are six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren surviving. Preceding him in death are his parents, and his infant son Arthur Paul Meyer, and one sister Anna Pauline Kinkaid. Services:A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, August 28,2013 at 10:30 at the Rozetta Baptist church in Rozetta,Illinois The family will receive friends Tuesday August 27, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Rozetta Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Rozetta Baptist Church.
