Maynard E. Ricketts

Maynard E. Ricketts, age 89, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away at 1:55 pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born on June 19, 1926 in Bald Bluff Township, the son of Glenn and Mildred L. (Waugh) Ricketts. He was reared and educated in the Seaton area. Maynard was drafted into the United States Army his senior year in high school and proudly served his Country during World War II. On October 16, 1948, he married Donna M. Rubert at the Methodist Church in Aledo, Illinois and she is surviving. Together, they enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Maynard began work with his father on the family farm. He later worked for Everett Fredrickson as a farm hand. He also worked for City Ford and Keister's Tire in Monmouth. He most enjoyed working on his own farm, and in later years, helping his nephews at their own farm. Maynard enjoyed hard work, his Church, yardwork, being outdoors, his grandchildren, and his friends. He will be remembered as a strong family man and a man of Faith. Maynard is survived by his wife Donna, two daughters; Linda (Chuck) Melton of Wataga, IL and Diane (Randy Eggen) Stumphy of Kirkwood, IL, three grandchildren; Shaun (Jennifer) Melton of Galesburg, IL, Jason (Ana) Melton of Denver, CO, and Kara (Caleb) Keating of Alexis, IL. He is also survived by on great-grandson, Wyatt Melton. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters. Visitation His family plans to receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm also at the Church. Funeral Service A funeral service is planned for 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Rozetta Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at the Rozetta Cemetery. Memorial funds are being established for either the Rozetta Baptist Church or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
