Melvin L. Riden, age 62, of Havana, Illinois; passed away at his residence in Havana, on May 25, 2011. Melvin was born on November 9, 1948 in Macomb, Illinois and is the son of Henry and Pauline Chenoweth Riden. Melvin was raised and educated in the Swan Creek area and attended Roseville High School. He married Peggy A. Paschal on August 1, 1986 in Monmouth, Illinois and she is surviving. Melvin was a hired farm hand for several area farmers including Jerry Hanson for many years. He also was a semi driver of freight for the SC2 Supply Chain in Peoria, Illinois. Melvin is a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau and the American Quarter Horse Association. He loved horses and was a cowboy through and through. His family and grandchildren were his main interest. Surviving is his wife Peggy Riden of Havana, Illinois, three daughters and one son, Paula Willis of Macon, MO; Hether Hays of Galesburg, IL; Geri Riden of Havana, IL; and Chad Paschal of Ft.Worth, TX. There are five grandchildren. Three brothers survive, "Bud" (Marge) Riden of Prairie City, IL; Jim (Paula) Riden of Avon, IL; and Larry (Patti) Riden of LaHarpe, IL and a number of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one son Paul. Services:A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 31st at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation will be accorded following the service. His family plans to receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the funeral service. A memorial fund is being established by the family.
