Michael E. 'Mike' Munson

Michael E. "Mike" Munson, age 55, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 11:39 P.M. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born on January 17, 1962 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Richard Lee and Donna (Carlberg) Munson. Mike attended school in the Yorkwood School District. After school, he served in the U.S. Army. Mike worked for McChesney Farms in Biggsville, Illinois as a semi driver. Always a "happy-go-lucky" guy, he enjoyed camping, music and karaoke, bike riding, walking, and lottery tickets. Mike is survived by one daughter, Brittney, one son, Jacob, two brothers; Mark Munson and Joe Rafferty, his "other Mama" Ethel Paulsgrove of Monmouth, IL, his girlfriend, Stacie Davidson of Monmouth, IL, step-mom Shirley Caldwell of Monmouth, IL, and special friends Larry Carson and Lisa Hull. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard "Grub" Munson. Memorial Service As were Mike's wishes, cremation is being accorded. A graveside committal for the interment of his ashes will be at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 in Monmouth Cemetery. Following the cemetery committal a gathering of his friends and family will be at the Community room at Oak Terrace Apartments in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established to assist his family with expenses.
