Mildred B. Van Riper, 90, of Kirkwood, passed away on May 9, 2012 at her residence in Kirkwood, IL. She was born on November 5, 1921 to Karl Anders and Pearl B. Brown Munson in Galesburg, IL. She was reared and educated in Monmouth, and graduated from Monmouth High School . On March 9, 1943 she married Dale E. Van Riper in Monmouth, IL, he preceded her in death in 1957. Mildred worked as a homemaker and helped on the farm. She then worked at Birdsell's Appliance Store in Kirkwood then later she worked at Sears in Galesburg until she retired. She was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church for 68 years. She was also active in the Kirkwood United Methodist Womans Group. Mildred belonged to the Red Hatters Society and the Chapter T PEO for 68 years. Mildred is survived by her daughter - Linda K Fredrickson of Morton, IL; daughter - Lucy Crouser (Robert) of Cincinnati, OH; 2 sons - John Van Riper (Beverly) of Kirkwood, IL, Keith A Van Riper of Kirkwood, IL; 4 granddaughters - Kathy Morgan (John), Lori Eibeck (Marty), Sarah Hinton (Ryan), and Chris Stockelman, 1 grandson - John R Van Riper (Leslie); Sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson , and sister-in-law Pauline Winbigler. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Van Riper, her parents Karl Anders Munson and Pearl B Brown, one son, Rodney VanRiper, sister Ruth Lyons, sister Kathryn Winbigler, sister Rose Reynolds, brother Everett, Munson, one granddaughter and one grandson. Services:A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, Ill. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home where her family will be present to receive friends. Memorials are suggested to the Kirkwood United Methodist Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
