Nancy Ellen Borg, 72 of Oquawka, IL passed away at Hospice House in West Burlington, IA on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Nancy was born on August 23, 1953, in Burlington, IA. She was the daughter of Gunard and Frances (Tyne) Borg. Nancy attended Gladstone Grade School and graduated from Union High School in 1971. In 1991 she earned a BA in Administration and Accounting from AIC in Davenport, IA.

Nancy began working at Burkett’s International Harvester on her 18th birthday in August 1971 until January 1974. From January 1974 to July 1974, she worked at IRC International Resister Company. She then worked various roles at Admiral/Maytag from July 9, 1974, to September 30, 2004, due to their closure. First on the assembly line, then in the Administrative Services Group in the Engineering Department, and finally retiring in the human resources department. In October 2004 until her passing she worked at Simmers Crane Design and Services in Rock Island, IL.

In her younger years Nancy enjoyed playing softball, darts, bowling and was in a pool league. Above all else, Nancy loved and enjoyed her family and spending time with her sisters.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Cheryl (Tootsie) Jacobs, three nieces Amy West, Stephanie (Russell) Taylor, and Lea Ellen Borg, and two brothers-in-law Robert Russell and Donald Jacobs. She is survived by her sisters Donna (Danny) Bielser, Connie Russell, Vickie (Ken) Shauman, and Peggy (Mike) West. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews: Sandy (Paul) Moraco, Cindy (Charlie) Brown, Stacy (Brandon)Merry, Marci Cornell, Brenda West, Darrick (Anika) Bielser, Jeff West, and Michael Russell. Great nieces and nephews: Danielle (Nathan) Defenbaugh, Morgan and Paige Moraco, Rebecca (Dylan Saunders) Merry, Taydyn, Carter and Hadley West, Keaton and Quincy Cornell, Braden Tee, Gracie Russell, Grayson and Selena Bielser and great, great niece Iverlynn Defenbaugh.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Oquawka, Illinois. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Minkler will officiate. Burial will follow at Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice House of West Burlington, Iowa or Compassus of Galesburg, Illinois.
