Nancy J. Fullerton Reed, age 66, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 6:22 pm at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Nancy was born on January 30, 1948 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of Loren and Gertrude Saville Fullerton. She was raised in Henderson County where she attended local schools, two years at G & O High School and graduated from Union High School with the class of 1966. Nancy married Stephen L. Reed on June 14, 1986 in Oquawka, Illinois and he is surviving. Nancy began work as an agent at Far & Near Travel Agency in Monmouth. She then was an Agent at P.A.Bergner's department store for a number of years. After this, she was an agent for AAA Travel Agency in Burlington, Iowa for several years. Nancy took time to raise her son, Alex then was employed by the Oquawka Current newspaper. She later worked for four to five years for AAA and lastly became employed by Litchfield Advisors in Lake Forrest, Illinois until her retirement on January 1, 2013. Nancy was a member and past president of the Red Hat Society in Oquawka, IL and a member and active in the Henderson County Young Republicans. She has been a director of the Henderson County Rural Health Center. She has served on the Oquawka Village Board and enjoyed traveling and crocheting. She is survived by her husband, Stephen L. Reed of Oquawka, Illinois and one son, Alex S. Reed of Chicago, Illinois. She has one brother, Thomas (Judy) Fullerton who survives in Clinton, Iowa. She is preceded in her death by her parents and one brother, Lawrence. Services:Nancy's family plans a tribute of Nancy's to life on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois at 2:00 pm. For visitation, they will receive their friends from Noon to 2:00 pm on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family has established a memorial fund for either the Delabar Mississippi River Youth Park, the Henderson County Rural Health Care Center, or the Friends of the Burlington Depot.
