Nancy Lou Johnson, age 76, of Kirkwood, Illinois passed away at 12:24 pm on October 6, 2013 at 12:24 pm at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth,Illinois. Nancy was born on December 17,1943 in Macon,Missouri the daughter of James Everett and Vurgil Ruth Shaffer Leath. She moved to Cameron, Illinois at the age of six and attended rural schools. She graduated from Galesburg High School. Nancy married Donald E. "Doc" Johnson Sr. on April 16, 1955 in Monmouth,Illinois. He preceded her on December 24,2003. She began work at O.T. Johnson in Galesburg, then working at Western Stoneware for a time. Nancy worked at Wilson Foods for twenty years, lastly she did domestic work at local residences retiring in 2010. She was baptized at the Cameron Christian Church and later attended the First Christian Church in Monmouth, with her sister Margaret. Nancy is survived by one daughter Penny L. Ross of Kirkwood, two sons, Donald E. (Julie) Johnson of Burlington, Iowa and Kirk D. (Nancy) Johnson in Missouri. There are eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Margaret Borcky of Monmouth, IL, Connie Leath of Galesburg, IL and Barbara Mackey of Cameron, IL; and four brothers James and Edna Leath of Cameron, IL, Dean and Fred Leath of Monmouth, IL, and Gilbert Leath of Galesburg, IL. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters. Services:A funeral service will be on Saturday October 12, 2013 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, Illinois. Her family plans visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established by her family.
