Nancy Nell Twedt, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 1:52 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at home surrounded by her three daughters.

Nancy was born April 12, 1948, in Fort Lee, Virginia, the daughter of Glendell Hugh Marcum and Mary Virginia Devine. She married William Allen Twedt on June 21, 1969, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2025.

Nancy attended Illinois Central College. She worked for 21 years as a merchandiser for American Greetings before retiring.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Nancy enjoyed reading, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She volunteered with Knox County Humane Society and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years while the girls were growing up, served as a reading buddy and room mom, and was a band parent. She especially loved coffee, being with her friends, giving gifts, and all of the people in her life.

Nancy is survived by her three daughters, Lora (Jim) Burback of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Kim (Jeff) Wahl of Elgin, Illinois, and Ginny (Zach) Crowl of Galesburg; and three grandchildren, Riley Wahl, Haley Wahl, and John Crowl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; and her twin brother, Jerry H. Marcum.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Deborah Epley will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
